Campouts - High Adventure

Three quarters of Scouting is Outing, and this is something that Troop 409 takes very seriously.  Camping is an important part of our program in Troop 409. Through campouts, scouts build self-esteem and learn valuable skills, such as teamwork, cooking, and first aid that they can use throughout their lives. For younger scouts, campouts provide a valuable opportunity to complete advancement requirements and older scouts can use camping experiences to build and prove their leadership skills.

Troop 409 scouts participate in at least five campouts per year, spend a week at Many Point Scout Camp in northern Minnesota each summer, and may participate in high adventure activities such as Boundary Water Canoe Area excursions in northern Minnesota and Canada, Sailing and Scuba Diving at Florida National High Adventure Sea Base in the Florida Keys, and backpacking treks at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
