EAGLE SCOUTS

The rank of Eagle Scout, Scouting's highest honor, is an achievement reached by only about two- to four percent of all scouts. Reaching the rank of Eagle takes much dedication and determination. Scouts must earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, demonstrate leadership by planning and executing a service project, and continuing to be active in the troop. To date, Troop 409 has guided more than 75 young men to their personal goal of becoming Eagle.

SCOUTMASTERS

While Troop 409 is a boy-run troop, it is the job of the scoutmaster to ensure that the troop runs smoothly. The scoutmaster serves as a mentor, teacher, and guide to the scouts, helping them learn their scout skills and develop their leadership as they progress through the ranks. The scoutmaster ensures that new scouts are welcomed into the troop and that graduating scouts are recognized for their service. The scoutmaster ensures that the troop runs efficiently and that it meets its obligations to the scouts and to the community.

Here we recognize all of the past scoutmasters of Troop 409. They have shown tremendous dedication to the troop, some even serving without having a son in the troop.

CHARLIE JONES CUP

Named in honor of Charlie Jones in recognition of his lifelong service to Troop 409, the Charlie Jones Cup was created in 2022 to recognize an outstanding scout who has aged out of the troop in the past year and has exemplified excellence in scouting through leadership, community service, and participation in troop activities during their time with troop 409. This award is presented annually during the spring court of honor. The first recipient of this award was Ethan Livermore.
